I love the story of Leon the lawyer.  He is a stray cat.  He strolled in one day.  The staff at the law firm adopted him.  People complained about this stray cat roaming around the office.  What did the law firm do to keep him?  They hired him. Yup, as an attorney.  

Look around your office?  What is it missing?  You’ve got your cool design and layout going on—with matching area rugs. Travel photos and interesting art on the wall. A deluge of laptop computers and random helpful electronics… (Gaming features included). How ‘bout that nifty water dispenser and coffee machine in one?! Seriously, we all know it wouldn’t be a complete office without one of those. LOL! Awesome!

And chances are I probably missed something. You could even have some sort of Zen corner that cleverly puts clients back in time while you (genius that you are) sew up the current state of affairs.

Yup! There is definitely something to be said for having it all, it goes…

“The secret to having it all is loving it all” ~ Joyce Brothers. 

You could take this to mean that what makes you feel complete and happy is totally individualized. Isn’t that great?! Settling for what’s “trending” is a trap. Wisdom says you should settle for what’s best for YOU. So, if you’re a cat person, GREAT! Make no apologies. Wish you had one in the office to reduce the work-life stress?

DO IT!

Did you know that having that fur kid in your office reduces stress???   It is a scientific fact. There are so many amazing cat adoption agencies out there, (my favorite is the Naples Cat Alliance) who would LOVE to get you acquainted with just such a purrrfect office addition. In fact, the furry feline is a great example of how sticking to our values can really serve us well. If you’ve ever been around a cat for any period of time, you know that when they come to their name it’s only because, ​

THEY are feelin’ it, ha!

Many of you know of my favorite felines. There is, of course, my mascot, Simba–and he thinks he is the king of my office. There is my little guy, Meep and my big tuxy, Tank.  Sometimes they stroll over my keyboard or walk under my standing desk.  Most of the time you will see them in my window, absorbing the sunlight…chillin.  And, if you’re wondering if adding a kitty to the office is that change that you will want to make you happier and calmer? Here is a pros and cons list to gain some clarity. Let’s revisit the cat scenario:

Pros

• Cat’s are like warm comfy pillows that walk around spreading contentment everywhere
• Cat’s make you think twice about leaving your favorite chicken casserole out to spoil
• Cats are good listeners…and talkers too
• Cats have cool patterns on their coats and give the room a sense of exotic
• Cats are wonderfully random, and do the most unexpected things that will make you smile, like jumping on your opponent’s head to get a better view! (Just Kidding! That’s a bad kitty!)
• Cats have a way of making you feel like the most important person in the world (just don’t forget breakfast, haha!)
• Feral cats make the quickest friends…AND BEST OFFICE EMPLOYEES
• Oh! And you know how I mentioned that having a cat could be a stress reducer for you? Well…if you’re an Attorney who deals in high stress/anxiety cases where your client would benefit from a cool cat (of the fluffy variety, not just you) – than this could be a great client relationship piece.

Cons

• [ …. …] Huhhh… guess we can’t think of any…   

Conclusion: 

…Maybe we need an office cat!?
